Logic Pro Tutorial – How to Change the Tempo of an Audio Track

Posted on January 12, 2024

For Logic Pro users, if you need to change the tempo of an audio track, here’s how to do it.

Select the audio track that you’re wanting to edit, then go to Edit > Show Flex Pitch/Time, or hit Command+F. This will make a new dropdown menu appear under the title of your track.

From the dropdown menu, choose “Flex Time – Polyphonic”.

It may take Logic Pro a few moments to prepare the audio file, but once it’s done, you’ll be able to change the tempo of the track as desired by clicking and typing in the Control Bar.

YouTuber Bo Boswell explains how you can use this trick when learning a new song. If you know the tempo of the song, set it as the project tempo before importing your audio file. If you don’t know the tempo of the song, then set the tempo as 100. As Bo explains, doing this, 100 represents 100% of the song tempo. So, after you import your file, you can set the tempo to 80, which will play your song at 80% speed.
